Father of Algerian Boxer Khelif Defends Daughter Against Critics

Amar Khelif, the father of Algerian boxer Imane Helif, has come to his daughter's defense following a controversy at the Paris Olympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved her participation in the 2024 Games despite a failed testosterone test in 2023.

Amar Helif stated, as reported by Evening Standard:

The attacks against her are immoral, it is not fair. Imane is a little girl that has loved sports since she was six years old. Having such a daughter is an honor because she is a champion, she honored me and I encourage her and I hope she will get the medal in Paris.

On August 1, Khelif competed against Italian athlete Angela in the Round of 16. The match concluded just 46 seconds after it started, as the Italian competitor withdrew in tears. Consequently, the victory was awarded to Imane Khelif. On August 2, Carini announced her retirement from sports.
