On March 2 in New York City, American boxer Gary Antuanne Russell faced off against fellow countryman Jose Valenzuela for the WBA title in the super lightweight division.

The match ended with Russell winning by a unanimous decision from the judges.

Russell now boasts a professional record of 18 wins (17 by knockout) and one loss. Valenzuela's record stands at 14 wins (nine by knockout) and three losses.
