The sporting director of Barcelona Anderson Luis de Souza, known as Deco, is planning to secure the signing of Bayer's midfielder Florian Wirtz in the summer of 2025.
Reported by Mundo Deportivo, if Deco had the funds for transfers right now, his top priority signing would be Wirtz, who is under contract with Bayer until 2027. However, Barcelona will aim to sign the 21-year-old player next summer.
Wirtz has been playing for Bayer 04 since 2020. In the previous season, Florian scored 18 goals and provided 20 assists in 49 matches.
As announced by the official website of the German Bundesliga, Florian Wirtz was recognized as the best player of the 2023/2024 season in the German football championship.
