Head coach of the German national team Julian Nagelsmann commented on the victory of his team over Denmark (2:0) in the Round of 16 of the European Championship - 2024.
Nagelsmann was quoted as saying by the German national team press service:
It was a bizarre knockout match. The first 20 minutes were our best in the tournament so far. Then there was a little pause. We changed things up a little bit after the rain stoppage and our defending subsequently improved. We said to the team that there’ll always be phases when we’re not playing at 100%. We need to stay more patient and wait for our moments.
In the quarterfinals of the home tournament Julian Nagelsmann's team will play against the winner of the match Spain vs. Georgia, which will be held on June 30, and will begin at 22:00 GMT+3.
According to the UEFA press service, Germany defender Antonio Rüdiger was recognized as the best player of the match against Denmark.
In addition, Germany midfielder Jamal Musiala moved up to the first place in the list of top scorers of Euro 2024.
