Two-time World Cup champion (1994, 2002) and 1997 Confederations Cup winner with the Brazilian national team, former forward Ronaldo has announced that he will not run for the position of president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
The presidential elections for the confederation are scheduled to take place no later than March 2026. Earlier, on December 17, 2024, the 48-year-old “Phenomenon” expressed interest in becoming the head of the CBF during an interview with Globo.
However, Ronaldo stated that he was unable to present his development project and share his ideas, noting that a majority of people support the current CBF president, Ednaldo Rodrigues.
Ronaldo played with the Brazil national team from 1994 to 2011. After retiring in 2018, he became the owner and president of La Liga club Real Valladolid. In August 2024, he decided not to sell the controlling stake in the team.
