Former UFC two-weight champion Daniel Cormier believes the promotion's middleweight champion Alex Pereira deserves the fighter of the year title.
Alex Volkanovski looked fantastic. I can say the same about Aljamain Sterling, Islam Makhachev, Leon Edwards. But my 2022 fighter of the year is Alex Pereira. He won three fights this year, including a fight with the UFC champion, who is considered by many to be one of the greatest middleweights of all time.

Pereira won the UFC middleweight belt this November at UFC 281. That time Alex defeated New Zealander Israel Adesanya by TKO in the fifth round.
Pereira knocked out Sean Strickland of America in the first round at UFC 276 this July. Last March, at UFC Fight Night 203, Alex won by unanimous decision over Bruno Silva of Brazil. Pereira has seven wins and one loss under his belt.
