Sinner: Obviously, I’m Very Disappointed

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, currently ranked as the world's number one, responded to the appeal made by WADA at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding his anti-doping rule violation case.

Sinner said at a press conference:

Obviously I’m very disappointed and also surprised of this appeal, to be honest, because we had three hearings. All three hearings came out very positively for me.

According to Sinner, he did not expect WADA to file an appeal, especially after learning that the decision in his case had been made in his favor.

He emphasized that all parties discussed the same issues, so he does not understand the reasoning behind the appeal.

To recall, in March 2024, Sinner tested positive for a banned substance called clostebol. An independent tribunal from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) found him not guilty. However, WADA has appealed the ruling and is seeking a ban of one to two years for Sinner.
