Dallas Mavericks vs Detroit Pistons Prediction: Struggling Mavs have a big chance to win here

The NBA Regular Season has entered the trade territory and this has been an interesting period where we can see a lot of moves being pulled off. This has been a rumor-fueled window and let us see what moves are being made. In this NBA Regular Season game, the Dallas Mavericks are going to take on the Detroit Pistons.

The Mavericks enter the game after losing 100:108 against the Jazz despite a 35 points performance by Spencer Dinwiddie. Dallas has lost six of their last eight games and this has been a disappointing window for a team that was expected to do much better. They have now accumulated 26 wins and 25 losses, and their latest slump has now made the work more tenuous for the remaining part of the season.

Luka Doncic’s injury has complicated matters further but Spencer Dinwiddie has held the fort well, scoring 35 or more twice in a row in absence of Doncic. This season the Mavs have been unable to find a way to find consistency on either end of the floor and their Forward rotations have been unreliable on the scoring end. Dinwiddie, Wood, and Hardaway Jr have provided decent support but overall, the Mavs remain vulnerable.

The Pistons come into this affair losing 114:117 against the Houston Rockets despite a 21 points performance by Alec Burks. Detroit has now lost five of their last six games and this kind of losing period have been rather common this season. They have lost 38 games and have won 13 of them. Detroit was expected to struggle like this and the injury to Cade Cunningham weakened them to no end.

One big positive has been the play of sharpshooting Wing Saddiq Bey, who has averaged over 16 for the first time in any month this season. In other bright spots, rookies Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren have been looking like tremendous emerging players and have left their mark as rookies. Killian Hayes has been struggling as a score as usual while being a tremendous playmaker. Bojan Bogdanovic has been the scoring leader.

The Mavericks have been underwhelming on multiple fronts and need Luka back, however, their play has been not up to the point even when Luka is active. Their defense has been not as sharp as it used to be whereas the Pistons have been an awful squad for multiple seasons. I believe even if Doncic doesn’t play, the Mavs are going to take this game. I predict a scoreline of 122:112 in favor of the Mavs.
