Entropiq vs Gambit Esports: Another defeat for the favorite?

On May 24, Entropiq and Gambit Esports will meet in the playoffs. Entropiq are surprising in this tournament, they can even be compared to the famous Marvel Comics character Gorr, the God Butcher. The guys are destroying the gods of the CIS region one by one. They beat Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro, they didn’t give up a single map to the favorites and can now add a victory over the best team in the world to their collection.

Entropiq look good in the tournament, especially considering they gathered all the strongest teams in the CIS region. On the one hand, they are extremely unlucky. In the first five matches of EPIC League CIS 2021, they got Natus Vincere, Virtus.pro, Team Spirit and Gambit Esports. They beat the first two opponents 2-0, Team Spirit lost, but it is worth admitting that the Spirits are incredibly strong right now. After such a difficult group stage, they got Gambit Esports, the top 1 team of HLTV.

Nevertheless, if Entropiq can ever beat Gambit Esports, there is no better chance. First, the guys themselves are in good shape, they have already beaten the two leaders in the region and they should not be afraid before the match against Gambit Esports. Second, Gambit Esports themselves do not play at maximum. Now the team is experiencing a definite decline and losing a lot of rounds, even frankly weak opponents. 12 rounds to Trident, 12 rounds to Nemiga, 23 rounds to Akuma, add to this defeat by NAVI and Spirit, and the chances of Entropiq noticeably increase.

Also, probably the best Entropiq’s map is Overpass, on which Gambit now has one of the worst win rates, and they play this map very rarely. Only twice in the last month. The team also has Dust2, but we don’t believe they’ll pick it. Gambit play on this map well, they’ve improved it in the last couple of months and the bad win rate is just an unfortunate coincidence. We don’t think the guys will want to use it.

Gambit Esports after the crushing defeat from Natus Vincere in the DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 Grand Final has slowed down. Now the team is on the decline and if it was quite difficult to understand it from the first match of the group. They looked powerful on one of the maps, then later on their decline was only confirmed by the results. Two defeats from their main competitors and a weak attack in both games against strong opponents. It felt like the team ran out of ideas.

Perhaps for Gambit Esports the Vertigo pick still looks like the best option, even despite not the best game with Nemiga. Dust2, as the third decisive map looks satisfactory for all, but here it may well be 2-0 and not in the favour of Gambit Esports. If you just look at the game, Gambit Esports do not look favorites.

Entropiq looked better than their opponents in the group stage. The team was able to beat NAVI, Virtus.pro, Gambit lost to the same NAVI without a chance. Of course, Gambit Esports are the top 1 team in the world and can enter the playoffs, but if you take away the fantasy and look at the current results, Entropiq look stronger.
