On the contrary, the Gaurs had an impressive start to their season. Goa's first match was against the newcomers of the ISL, Punjab. They secured a narrow 1-0 victory with a first-half goal from Carlos Martinez.

The Kalinga Warriors also couldn't halt Goa's winning streak in a thrilling encounter. Despite Mourtada Fall scoring a brace for Odisha, Noah Sadoui's double and a later winner by Jay Gupta enabled the Gaurs to claim their second victory of the competition.

In their third match, East Bengal, despite the valiant efforts of Naorem Mahesh Singh, suffered a defeat against Goa. Two quick goals in the second half, courtesy of Sandesh Jhingan and Victor Rodriguez, made the pivotal difference, resulting in a 2-1 victory for the Gaurs.
