AS FAR Rabat vs Mamelodi Sundowns Prediction: The Royal Army will extend their decent run against the guests

In this highly competitive CAF Champions League fixture, the Royal Army will face off against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Stade El Abdi Stadium in a group of death. The guests who have no option but to win here have a hurdle to overcome against a solid opponent.

The Royal Army kicked off their continental journey with a decent (0-2) victory over their neighbour Raja Casablanca on the road, in a game where they managed just two shots and a goal and converted them; AS FAR Rabat played their best game this campaign. They put up a pretty solid defensive performance and took their chances against a side who had seven shots at goal and a penalty. They maintained the momentum in their domestic league, defeating JS Soualem (0-3) away from home. 

AS FAR Rabat who kicked out Sudanese side Al Merreikh in the qualifying round, will be poised to make it out of the group. AS FAR Rabat are unbeaten in their last eight home games this season. 

The Brazilians began their CAF Champions League campaign with a toothless stalemate against Maniema Union. As usual, Mamelodi Sundowns controlled the game but were not clinical enough. A terrible display from Mamelodi Sundowns inspired by their porous attack. The Brazilians created more than enough and even though their opponents defended well, they had some opportunities that could have earned them the maximum points. Luckily for them, they bounced back against Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership, scoring three unanswered goals.

Mamelodi Sundowns are one of the best teams in Africa; they’ve won the CAF Champions League once and have made it out of the group stage in five consecutive seasons. Mamelodi Sundowns were eliminated by Esperance ST in the semi-finals last season. 

AS FAR Rabat have shown some signs of improvement in recent games, especially against Raja Casablanca in their opening game and playing on their home turf gives them an advantage over their opponent. On the opposing end, Mamelodi Sundowns will hope to revive themselves in the group after their poor display on their home turf against Maniema Union. 

This is an evenly matched game and the Brazilians will strive to at least get a goal against the hosts. 

The Royal Army are aware that every point matters in this group, and I’m backing them to at least secure a point here; bet on a home win or draw and over 1.5 goals for 2.23.

I expect this game to produce more goals after the break for 2.16.
