Canada vs Morocco Prediction: Atlas Lions will secure a place in the round of 16 after their Group F World Cup triumph

Morocco could be one of the few African sides that will grace the round of 16 when they lock horns with Canada at the Al Thumama Stadium on Wednesday. Canada are automatically out, having lost two in two games; however, the Atlas Lions could either top the group or come second in Group F.

The Voyageurs were one of the least experienced in this competition, influencing their game badly. Canada commenced the tournament with a slim (1-0) loss to Belgium; however, despite taking the lead in their second game, they were overwhelmed by Croatia. The Voyageurs conceded four and were even lucky not to have let in more.

Mathematically, they are out of the competition, as a win doesn’t guarantee a second-place finish here. So basically, they will be playing for pride.

All these were possible because of their heroic performance against Belgium. Before the game, Belgium were undefeated in 12 group games, and their winning streak started in 2002 when they edged a five-goal thriller with Russia.

Unlike 2018, when Walid Regragui's men were paired with European heavyweights Portugal and Spain with Iran. Their only highlight of the tournament was a (2-2) stalemate against Spain. They didn’t make the cut as they finished rock bottom in Group B. Morocco can be assured a place in the round of sixteen if they win here.

Both sides met sometime in a friendly match in 2016, where Morocco defeated Canada (4-0). We know it may not be possible against this Canadian side; however, if Morocco attack the way they did against Belgium, they could pull such a stunt here. Regardless, we expect a Morocco win here for 2.20.
