SV Darmstadt 98 vs Bayern Munich Prediction: Bayern to win and preserve the slim chance of league win

At the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor on Saturday, ayern Munich will play Darmstadt 98, a team currently in the relegation zone, in an attempt to keep themselves out of the Bundesliga. With their most recent league game, Bayern Munich kept their slim home to winning the Bundesliga aluve with a win in week 25.  With 57 points, they are now in 2nd position on the league table. Bayern Munich is just four points above third place Stuttgart after 25 games played, having scored 73 goals and given up 29.

Since losing to RB Leipzig in October 2023, SV Darmstadt 98 has not won at home in nine games (Wins 0 Draws 2 Losses 7).  Bayern Munich has two wins, one draw, and two losses from their last five Bundesliga games played. In contrast, Darmstadt is without a win in the last five Bundesliga games played.

Darmstadt's adjustment to life back in the Bundesliga has not gone well. They have only managed 13 points from 24 games going into this one. They are 12 points above the safety line after this calculation. It will require a lot of work to turn things around at this point since their path back to the second tier appears to be lengthy. In October, they were defeated 3-1 at home by Leipzig in the rematch. For now, Darmstadt's only option is to survive, although their recent performance has been dismal. Bayern's situation in the Bundesliga isn't fantastic; coming into this match against Mainz in 17th position, they are in second place. In this game, Bayern hasn't been totally at ease. Three of their last six league encounters with Mainz have ended in losses. But all those defeats came from away games for the Bavarians. Hence, their six straight home victories against Mainz will give them cause for optimism going into this match. Following last weekend's 2-2 draw away to Freiburg, Bayern Munich now sits 10 points behind league leaders Leverkusen with 54 points. It now appears as though the champs, whose hegemony has been questioned over the past two seasons, will lose their crown.

Thomas Tuchel's team has to win this game since there is still a lot to be gained. They defeated Lazio 3-0 in their most recent match in the Champions League. When they play Mainz, they'll try to build on this momentum.

Kingsley Coman, Noussair Mazraoui, and Bouna Sarr are still not in the match day squad due to injury. 

Although Bayern is the clear favourite going into the match on Saturday, they know that if they want to have any chance of winning the Bundesliga again, they have to play flawlessly from now until the finish.

While Darmstadt is battling for their life at the bottom of the table and has made some progress, they cannot be completely written out. In the end, Bayern should have enough firepower to outscore their opponents and win easily. A scoreline of 3-0, or 4-0 is expected.
