Senegal vs Liberia Prediction: The home nation is too favoured to lose

Senegal and Liberia will battle it out at Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade in the second leg of the African Nations Championship. The first leg of this game ended in a 1-1 draw. How will this game unfold? Below, I preview this game and make predictions. 

Senegal will be confident they can win this time, having been held to a draw in the first leg. In a game that ended 1-1, Seydina Mbaye struck for this side in the 73rd minute, but it was not enough to see them win. However, Senegal come into this game as a heavy favourite, and they will hope they can get things right.

Heading into this game, Senegal have not lost any of their last 12 matches. In that run, Senegal won eight matches while drawing four. In those matches, Senegal scored 17 goals while conceding three. 

Liberia had to come from behind to avoid a defeat in the first leg of this game and will rely on hopes here. In that game, Abdulai Bility's strike was enough to put them into this qualifier with a good chance in the second half. However, that draw was Liberia's second in recent games, having played Sierra Leone, which ended 1-1. In the meantime, Liberia have secured wins over Sierra Leone and Togo in recent times. However, their game against Algeria ended in a defeat. In their last five matches, Liberia scored six goals while conceding eight. 

Despite a strong performance from Liberia in the first leg, I do not see them avoiding a defeat here. While Senegal struggled the previous time out, I believe being at home with a good squad will be enough to see them secure maximum points. Also, while the two teams scored in the first leg, we might witness a similar outcome, as I expect a decent level of attacking play from Liberia.
