Luzern vs Young Boys Prediction: Both teams need to be at their best

At Swissporarena, Luzern will welcome Young Boys in this round of 15 Swiss Super League games. In their last meetings, Luzern failed to win a single game. Can the home team take advantage of Young Boys' poor performances?

Luzern played Sion the last time out in the league and faced a defeat in what was a road fixture. In that game, Luzern came from two goals behind to take a point, thanks to Thibault Klidje's brace. However, in the last 30 minutes of the match, Luzern conceded twice, denying them a win for the fourth time in recent league games. Heading into this game, Luzern's lone win in their last five matches was against Grasshoppers, ending 2-0 while drawing Servette. With 22 points, Luzern sit 5th in the standings, scoring 26 goals and conceding 22. 

Young Boys showed character the previous time out before the break in the league. In that encounter, Young Boys took the lead from the spot through Cedric Itten but needed Alan Virginius' second-half strike after they conceded before the break from the place. However, looking at Young Boys' recent matches, the visiting team has two wins, one other against Basel. In the meantime, Young Boys lost to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League and Lugano in week 11 of the Swiss Super League week. With 16 points from 14 matches, Young Boys sit 9th in the standings, scoring 18 goals and conceding 23. 

Luzern are one of the fewest sides with inconsistencies this season and will need more than luck against a Young Boys side they have not defeated in recent times. However, I can not confidently back Young Boys in this fixture, looking at how poor they have been this season. While Young Boys have fallen below par, Luzern can not be trusted either with their recent poor plays. Yet, I would rather take a chance on the Young Boys in this game, considering how convincing they were against Lugano and Basel, who have been tough sides this season. Also, at home, I do not expect Luzern to fail to score, thanks to Young Boys' poor defence line.
