Vardar vs Makedonija GP Prediction: Old city rivalry in Skopje

FC Vardar are going through the hardest days of their existence. But despite all the problems last season, through their performances in the Second MFL, they won first-league status. But the new season between the elite did not start well. The "red and black" tied three defeats at the opening of the season, against Brera, Shkupi and Voska, as well as a draw with Sileks. With only one point won, they are nailed to the very bottom of the PMFL. In the meantime, the price of the bad results was paid by the manager Boban Grncharov and the sports director Aleksandar Bajevski. Aleksandar Vasovski and Djoko Hachievski were hired in their place. Makedonija GP on the other hand were fast knocked out of European competitions and now their main focus is improving the form in the league and finishing in the top half.

In the last match against Sileks, Vardar’s game was improved and different under the new manager Vasovski. In this transfer period, Vardar brought in 7 players but lost the best scorer from last season Dario Desnic. However, new energy is felt in the team and I believe that under the management of Vasovski, this team will show fighting spirit. Currently, this team is last placed in the league with only 1 point.

Makedonija GP surely hoped to make some progress in the European competitions this summer, but the truth is that they weren’t even a little bit competitive against other teams. However, in the domestic league, they are pretty decent, and even though they had a bad start it’s expected this team to be in the top half part of the table. They are in 8th place with 5 points, a win, 2 draws, and 2 defeats. They also had some changes in the squad recently, but the main players are still in the team so it shouldn’t have some major impact on the team. 

Matches between Vardar and Makedonija GP used to be one of the biggest derbies in N. Macedonia. However both teams, especially Vardar aren’t what they used to be, so this match is now as ordinary league match as every other. However, the most loyal fans don’t see it that way, so I expect tense and tight match besides all the problems in the teams. We can expect goals on both sides and I see Vardar taking at least a point in this derby.
