Danka Kovinic vs. Serena Williams Predictions: Willams to Fancy Her Chances of Winning

In the first round of her farewell outing at the US Open, Serena Williams will face Danka Kovinic. This season, the 40-year-old has only played four matches, winning one.

Kovinic has progressed to the third round of the Australian Open, French Open, and Indian Wells Open. After withdrawing from Wimbledon, the 27-year-old joined the Poland Open and lost in the first round against Jasmine Paolini.

After losing 6-0, 6-2 against Nuria Parrizas-Diaz, she failed to qualify for the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.

Williams returned to the singles circuit at Wimbledon, where she was defeated in the first round by Harmony Tan. The American advanced to the second round of the Canadian Open after defeating Nuria Parrizas-Diaz 6-3, 6-4. She was, however, defeated in straight sets by Belinda Bencic.

Williams then competed at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, where she was beaten in the first round 6-4, 6-0 by Emma Raducanu.

Because the two have never met, their head-to-head record is 0-0.

Kovinic is a workhorse who enjoys chasing after balls and exhausting her opponents. The 27-year-old isn't the best mover on court and has a lot of double-faults, including eight in her last match in Granby. As a result, if she wants to beat a veteran like Serena, who will also have a lot of audience support, she will have to be at her best.
