Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune

Holger Rune, like Auger-Aliassime, maintained his hot streak in Paris, reaching his first ATP 1000 semifinal. Although the Dane was outstanding in the quarterfinal, the victory did not come in a complete match since world number one Carlos Alcaraz was forced to quit in the second set due to an injury.

Rune put on a strong performance in the first set to earn first blood. In the second set, both players were on serve until Alcaraz needed treatment on his abdominal muscle at 5-6. The Spaniard was finally forced to withdraw in the tiebreak, trailing Rune 1-3.

Rune, like his Saturday opponent, has previously reached the finals of three events. He finished second in Sofia, first in Stockholm, and then second in Basel last week, losing in straight sets against Auger-Aliassime. He has continued that form to Paris, where he has won four straight races.

Rune overcame Stan Wawrinka in a two-hour, thirty-minute first-round match, fighting against the Swiss in three sets. He then defeated 10th seed Hubert Hurkacz in the second round and seventh seed Andrey Rublev in the third before defeating Alcaarz in the quarterfinals on Friday.

.

Felix Auger Aliassime

Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated America's Frances Tiafoe in straight sets to get to his second ATP masters semifinal and first in Paris.

Auger-quarterfinal Aliassime's victory on Friday extended his current winning streak to 16 matches, and he is now one win away from a fourth consecutive final. The Canadian has won three indoor titles in the previous three weeks in Florence, Antwerp, and Basel and is in terrific condition to win a fourth in a row.

The Canadian, who had lost all eight finals prior to this season, earned his first ATP championship this year in Rotterdam and also reached another indoor final in Marseille, but did not win the trophy.

Auger-Aliassime, ranked eighth in the world, took an hour and 34 minutes to defeat Tiafoe 6-1, 6-3. He qualified for the year-ending ATP Finals in Turin earlier this week.

The Canadian gained 86% of his points by correctly serving 72% of the time. He didn't provide Tiafoe a single breakaway opportunity, but he did generate 14 opportunities, three of which he converted.

Auger-Aliassime had a difficult start to the event, coming back from a set down to defeat Mikael Ymer in a three-and-a-half-hour second round epic. He's come a long way since then, beating Gilles Simon in the second round and Tiafoe in the last eight.
