Jessica Pegula vs Magdalena Frech Prediction: Power-player Jessica takes on Frech

The Professional tennis scene is hurtling toward the French Open. Since the tournament is going to be played on a clay surface which means that the tournaments which precede are going to be on clay. In this Madrid Open game, Jessica Pegula will fight it out against Magdalena Frech.

If we take into account Pegula’s record on clay since last season, she has 14 wins and five losses. Pegula last participated in Charleston Open, which is played on clay. Jessica won the Round of 32, 16, and Quarter-Final match-ups, defeating Paula Badosa, Irene Begu, and Anna Blinkova but lost to Belinda Bencic in the fourth round in a close game. Before that she had reached the Semi-Final of the Miami Open but lost in the Semi-Final to Elena Rybakina. Pegula made it to the Final of the Qatar Open but lost to Iga Swiatek. Pegula has made deep runs and she is a regular threat to win the title.

Frech comes into the match after defeating Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-3 in the Round of 128. Frech had a 65-50% advantage on the first serve and eked out a 37-23 service points edge. The receiving points area was equal with both players having 26 points. Frech had beaten Aliona Bolsova and Olga Danilovic in the Qualifiers to make it to the Round of 128. Frech couldn’t make it to the main round of the Charleston Open, she did crack the Qualifiers and lost in the second round of the Miami Open. Before that, she had made it through the Qualifiers but lost in the second round of Indian Wells Masters against Ons Jabeur(three sets). 

Pegula and Frech have met once and that was during the Chicago Open in 2021 when Frech won comfortably in two sets.

Pegula is an expert at winning against lower-ranked players and it will not be a surprise if she repeats it here. Frech comes into the game with a more-than-decent rhythm whereas Pegula is always ready for a challenge. I expect Pegula to come up big.
