Lorenzo Sonego vs Nick Kyrgios Prediction: Tough battle could end either way

Nick normally should have very few opponents able to take him on the grass season; however, in his last match, he struggled against a player out of the first top 50 in the ranking. He could face similar problems against Lorenzo Sonego, who beat another big server, Matteo Berrettini, also previously a finalist of Wimbledon, before being stopped by the other Australian player on form, O’Connell.

Following the surprise sprung during the first match in Stuttgart, beating Berrettini easily in two sets, 6-2 6-1, Sonego lost against the big Australian server, O’Connell. Here is a match on paper very tough for him, facing the Wimbledon finalist on grass; however, we have seen Kyrgios struggling with a young talented Chinese in his last match of the week, giving him some hope to pull up a nice fight.

The loss against Wu Yibing has to be soon forgotten by the talented and entertaining Australian player. Here he has a chance to beat Sonego, proceed to the latter stages, and even win the tournament, which would give him a massive boost ahead of his favorite tournaments of the year(all together with the home-based Australian Open). His great serve, aggressive, and arrogant style of playing with underserving and other shots to entertain the public can have the upper hand. But, he needs to be focused as Sonego won’t give anything gifted, knowing him as a very strong fighter on any surface.

The two players played twice before but never on the grass. Both times Kyrgios was the winner on the hard court however, the battle was on both times finishing on multiple tie-breaks. For this reason, we expect a close game with a high number of games as a result.
