Nick Kyrgios vs Marton Fuscovics Prediction: Unorthodox Nick takes on charged-up Marton

The walls are closing in on the Stuggart Open and as expected, there have been some topsy-turvy results. The third to fifth seeds players have been ousted and some of the underdogs have proven their girth. How will it pan out when Aussie Nick Kyrgios will square off against Marton Fuscovics?

Nick is well known for his shenanigans and although the last couple of years have been tough on him, this has been a decent start. He must feel elated after ousting Nikokoloz Basilavshili 6:7, 6:4, 6:3 in a strong come-from-behind win. Nick has started slow but has caught on twice now. In the first round, he beat Jiri Lehecka 7:6, 6:3 in another incredible effort.

Nick had reached as high as 13th rank in 2016 but has slipped to 77 as of now. Known for a strong second serve, Kyrgios is known as one of the most aggressive players. He uses the unorthodox under-arm serve quite a bit but his game can become one-dimensional at times. Let us see how his backhand game serves him against Marton.

Marton Fuscovics shut down the third-seeded Polish talent Hubert Hurcakz 7:5, 6:7, 7:3 in what was one of the most grueling battles of the tournament. This is not the only battle that was close. In the first round too, he had a three-round battle against Jurij Radionov, winning 6:7, 6:3 , 6:4. In both games, he has shown tremendous stamina.

Marton has a strong physique and is also known as the “Ironman of Tennis”. Marton’s highest ranking has been 31, which was in 2019 but since then he is mostly lingering in the 40s. He is 30 years old right now so his dream to become a top-ten player is rather diminishing.

Nick’s aggressive style will obviously test Marton and both players have won battles against players ranked higher than them. This makes for an interesting as well as a tricky battle prediction-wise. Although Marton is ranked higher, Nick looks like he is on a mission. Nick has had a mixed start to the season but he will need to get his confidence in full flow before the Wimbledon.
