Shuai Zhang vs. Cori Gauff Prediction: Shuai to Make Things Difficult for Coco!

Coco Gauff, the 12th seed, will meet Zhang Shuai in the US Open's last 16 on Sunday.

At the Lyon Open, Zhang won her third singles championship of the season, defeating Dayana Yastremska in the final. The Chinese have recently shown promise, reaching the quarterfinals of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.

She began her US Open campaign by defeating 30th seed Jill Teichmann 6-4, 6-2. She then defeated Anna Karolina Schmeidlova 7-5, 6-1 to go to the third round. She defeated Rebecca Marino 6-2, 6-4 to reach the US Open's last 16 for the first time in her career.

Gauff has had several strong singles results in recent months, most notably reaching the French Open final. She also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Italian and Canadian Opens.

The youngster began the US Open with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against French qualifier Leolia Jeanjean, and then defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-2, 7-6. (4).

In the third round, she played compatriot Madison Keys and defeated her 6-2, 6-3 to go to the fourth round of the event.

Gauff will be the favorite to win, but Zhang Shuai should not be underestimated since she can make things difficult for the American on her day.
