Al Ahly’s star player Nadine Mohamed says the team is taking it a game at a time at the Africa Zone Five Women’s Basketball Championship in Zanzibar. Mohamed has been a star for the Egyptian giants at the competition, averaging 23.3 points per game in the first three matches in the group phase.
Speaking to marvelgamingbet.com after their final group match, the point guard believes the team has started the competition well and is aiming for victory, though she admits it will not come easy and they are taking it a game at a time.
We have started the competition really well with very high intensity. I am proud of the team effort we have put in so far, especially in defense. We have done well to ensure that we get ourselves in the right momentum. It has not been easy to adjust, especially to the early tip-off games, but we have a good squad of players who can adjust really well.
The Zone Five competition is a qualifier for this year’s Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA), where Ahly is seeking to qualify and win. The top three in Zone Five earn tickets to the continental showpiece.
We are taking it a game at a time and we know each team out here is tough. We can’t take anything for granted, and our aim is to reach the WBLA. Everyone is determined to get that dream to come true.
Ahly will face local side Vijana Queens in the quarter-final.
