Former world boxing champion Wilder arrested on illegal weapons possession charges

Former WBC World heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has been arrested in Los Angeles on charges of illegal possession of weapons.

Wilder was reportedly stopped by police because his car windows were tinted and his license plate was covered. Police searched the car after smelling marijuana. According to TMZ sources, drugs and a 9-millimeter handgun were found in the boxer's car.

Wilder cooperated with police and was released early this morning.

Earlier, Britain's Anthony Joshua confirmed talks of a fight with Wilder.

Wilder had his last fight against Finland's Robert Helenius in October 2022. In this fight Deontay won by knockout in the first round. He has 43 wins (42 by KO), two losses and one draw.
