Jim Kambosos, the father, manager, and trainer of former lightweight champion George Kambosos from Australia, shared his thoughts on the future of Ukrainian boxer Vasiliy Lomachenko in an exclusive interview with marvelgamingbet.com.
"The only thing Lomachenko has never achieved in his entire career, and I don't think he will, because right now it’s too hard – is that he has never been the undisputed world champion. He's won everything else. He’s a two-time Olympic champion. He’s accomplished a lot. He has won all the belts, but when he finishes his career, there will never be mentions of him as being undefeated. He came close to defeating Devin Haney; it was a brutal decision. I was there, I saw the ring in Las Vegas. That fight could have gone either way, but Haney got the win," said Kambosos.
Lomachenko is the greatest of all time, one of the greatest lightweight champions ever. He was an extraordinary fighter. But I've heard he might retire. If Lomachenko retires, George Kambosos can at least say he was the last to fight him. I’ve heard Vasiliy might retire. It will be interesting to see what he does in the new year. But many people are saying that this might be it for him. Maybe he should call it a day, considering Lomachenko is now 37 years old. Yes, he will turn 37 next year.
Throughout his professional career, Lomachenko has achieved 18 victories and suffered three losses. In May 2024, Vasiliy defeated Australian fighter George Kambosos by technical knockout in the 11th round, winning the world championships under the IBF and IBO versions.
