
Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko expressed his belief that new Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton is currently not up to par with Charles Leclerc.
Marko's opinion is based on the preseason tests. He noted that for the British driver, it is crucial to match Leclerc's level from the very first qualifiers of the season.
In Bahrain, Leclerc was the much faster one. Hamilton drove a lot of laps, gradually improved, but was not quite at Leclerc’s level. it is crucial for Hamilton to be able to evaluate the first qualifying sessions on equal footing with Leclerc. But that’s certainly not easy.
The 40-year-old British driver officially joined the Italian team Ferrari on January 1, 2025.
It's worth noting that during his 11 years with Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton won seven Formula 1 titles.
The first round of the new Formula 1 season is scheduled to take place in Melbourne, Australia, from March 14 to 16.
