Verstappen Discusses His Strategy for Winning the Formula 1 Title

Dutch Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen of the Red Bull Racing team spoke about the competition with the British team McLaren in the current season.

Verstappen said, as quoted by GPblog:

Naturally, if they are the dominant force and they keep winning, then yeah, for sure [they are a threat]. But at the end of the day, we just need to focus on ourselves. I think we can do things better, maybe as well in terms of optimizing the performance. So that's where my attention goes. Naturally you have the championship in the back of your mind but I think we first need to focus on just trying to find a bit more performance in the car.

Max Verstappen is a three-time Formula 1 champion. After 14 races this season, he leads the drivers' standings with six victories and a total of 277 points. In second place is British driver Lando Norris of McLaren, with 199 points, followed by Charles Leclerc of Ferrari in third with 177 points.

Additionally, Verstappen's Red Bull team is leading the Constructors' Championship with 408 points. McLaren sits in second place with 366 points, and Ferrari is in third with 345 points.

There are ten races remaining in the season, with the next one scheduled to take place in Verstappen's home country, the Netherlands. The first practice session will start on August 23 at 1:30 GMT+3, and the main race will take place on the 25th at 4:00 GMT+3. In the previous race at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, Mercedes driver and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton took the victory.
