Four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen, the Dutch driver for Oracle Red Bull Racing, has achieved a new absolute record for the most days in the lead in the history of Formula 1.
February 14th marked exactly 1,000 days since 27-year-old Verstappen won the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. Since then, the Formula 1 veteran has not relinquished the top position in the personal standings.
The previous records were held by one of the best drivers in the history of the sport, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher (1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004), with 896 days (from 2000 to 2003) and 630 days (from 2003 to 2005).
On January 16, the Daily Mail confirmed that the management of Aston Martin is seriously interested in inviting Verstappen and is prepared to offer him a long-term contract worth $1.2 billion. On February 6, Racingnews365 published a ranking of the highest-paid drivers for 2025, where Verstappen also ranked first with $65 million.
