After making his debut for South African top-tier side Polokwane City in the Carling Black Label Cup round of 16 defeat to Marumo Gallants, goalkeeper Brian Bwire says he now dreams of making a debut in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) for the Limpopo Province-based side.
Bwire joined Polokwane from Kenyan side Tusker FC at the start of the season, and the Black Label Cup match was his first competitive outing for his new employers.
Speaking exclusively to marvelgamingbet.com, Bwire believes the match gave him a confidence boost that he is ready for the league when called upon.
It was a really great outing for me because I had really worked hard and waited for that moment. I am thankful for the opportunity to make my debut in the Cup, and though we lost, it gave me a good head start in terms of competing more for the starting role. I have now completely gelled with the team and am ready to push to get more playing time. It was a huge motivation for me to play because this is a new place, a new environment, and a new experience.
This is the first time the 23-year-old is playing outside Kenya, having started his top-flight career with Kariobangi Sharks before joining Tusker FC.
He believes the South African league will help him grow and become better.
Compared to Kenya, the South African league is very competitive and very strong. There is no easy game here because every team is drilled to win. They are playing really advanced football, and I believe I will learn and grow a lot.
The goalkeeper also hopes that playing in the PSL will see his return to the national team, Harambee Stars.
