Former Man City Striker Kavelashvili Runs for President of Georgia

Political party "Georgian Dream," which holds a majority in the Georgian parliament, has nominated former Spartak-Alania and Manchester City striker Mikheil Kavelashvili for the presidency.

The presidential elections in Georgia are scheduled for December 14.

Kavelashvili, 53, became a member of the Georgian Dream party in 2016. He played for several clubs, including Dinamo Tbilisi, Spartak-Alania in Russia, Manchester City in England, and Swiss teams such as Grasshoppers, Zurich, Sion, Lucerne, and Basel. In addition to his Russian championship title in 1995, Kavelashvili won the Georgian championship six times (1990-1995) and once triumphed in the Swiss Super League in 1998.
