France striker Randal Kolo Muani has spoken about his historic miss in the extra time of the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar against Argentina (3-3 after regulation time, 2-4 on penalties).
The 24-year-old striker tried to beat Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, but was unable to get the better of him and missed the chance to give his team victory.

I still go back to that moment, I know it by heart. I said to myself: "Randal, you have to shoot on goal. I tried to shoot into the near corner, but the goalkeeper made a great save. That's fate. I lost that duel. I thought I had other options. I could have passed to Kylian (Mbappe - note) because he was also in a good position, but I didn't see him. I still have a lump in my throat. It will stay with me for the rest of my life.
The striker has been with the French national team since 2022 and has made five appearances with them. He scored a goal in the 2-0 win over Morocco in the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup. He also plays for German Bundesliga club Eintracht and has made 17 league appearances in the 2022/2023 season, scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists.
