Three Australian A-League Footballers Accused Of Betting Corruption

New South Wales police have arrested three Macarthur players, captain Dávila, Clayton Lewis, and Kearyn Baccus on suspicion of manipulating yellow cards during matches.

According to the investigation, one of the players was instructed by a South American man to “organize” yellow cards, for which the players were paid up to $10,000.

At the moment, investigators have not found any evidence implicating any other A-League club in the suspected corruption. It is believed that all betting linked to the alleged betting plot happened abroad, resulting in substantial payouts totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The investigation revealed manipulation in matches on November 24 and December 9, 2023, as well as attempted manipulation on April 20 and May 4 this year. All three players have been released on bail pending trial.
