English football referee David Coote has been suspended from any UEFA-related activities until the summer of 2026. This news comes from the English publication The Sun.
According to the report, the Union of European Football Associations made this decision, stating that Coote's actions harmed the reputation of football and UEFA and violated the standards of behavior.
It’s worth noting that in December of last year, Coote lost his job at PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Ltd.) following an internal investigation. This was prompted by a leaked video recording in which the referee made derogatory comments about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp during a private conversation.
Following this, UEFA initiated its own investigation into Coote, examining allegations regarding the possible use of banned substances during his officiating at the 2024 European Championship.
