Brazil’s Maria Carolina Gomes Santiago has clinched her third Tokyo Paralympic Gold after winning the Women’s 100m breaststroke SB12 swimming event. Russian Paralympic Committee(RPC) athlete Daria Lukiaenko won the silver while Ukraine’s Yaryna Matlo bagged a bronze in the event.
Maria has claimed three gold medals, a silver, and a bronze in the women’s 100m breaststroke SB12, women’s 100m freestyle S12, women’s 50m freestyle S13, Mixed 4X100m freestyle relay, and women’s 100m backstroke respectively. SB12/S13 categories refer to athletes with damage in the optic nerves or those with visual issues.
