"Champion vs. Champion". Makhachev reacts to official announcement of his fight with Volkanovski

UFC lightweight titleholder Islam Makhachev published a post on social media commenting on the announcement of a fight with the promotion's featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski.


The fight between Islam Makhachev and Alex Volkanovski will take place Feb. 12 in Perth, Australia, at UFC 284.

Makhachev, 31, has 23 wins and one loss to his record. Islam defeated Charles Oliveira in his last fight at UFC 280 in October by submission (via arm triangle choke) in the second round.

Volkanovski, 34, last fought Max Holloway this past July at UFC 276. That fight ended in a unanimous decision win for Volkanovski. He has 25 wins and one loss to his record.
