Chandler: If Covington's Attacking Skills Had Matched The Power Of The U.S., We Would Never Have Achieved Independence

UFC top American lightweight Michael Chandler commented on the performance of his compatriot Colby Covington at UFC 296.

On December 17 in Las Vegas (USA), Covington lost to the promotion's welterweight champion Leon Edwards by unanimous decision of the judges.

In the first four rounds, Covington landed 1,776 punches to the face and responded with just a few lazy transition attempts. If his attacking skills had matched the power of the United States, then we would never have achieved independence, would have lost in the First World War and would have been demoralized by the first bump on the road in the Second World War. Colby, you suck.

Edwards, 32, had his previous fight in March 2023 at UFC 286, defeating Kamaru Usman by majority decision. He has 22 wins and three losses on his record.

Covington, 35, previously stepped into the octagon in March 2022 at UFC 272, defeating Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision. He has 17 wins and four losses on his record.
