American UFC welterweight fighter Michael Chiesa said that the promotion's middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis could have a fight with Israel Adesanya.
UFC LIVE quoted Chiesa as saying:
I have the same agent as Dricus du Plessis, and I think that they’re trying to make [du Plessis vs. Adesanya] happen. [du plessis] does have a compromised leg from the fight, maybe working on a new contract.
Earlier, former UFC middleweight division champion Israel Adesanya hinted that he will return to the octagon on April 14 at UFC 300.
Du Plessis, 30, last fought at UFC 297 in January 2024, defeating Sean Strickland by split decision. He has 21 wins and two losses on his record.
Adesanya, 34, last stepped into the octagon in September 2023 at UFC 293, losing to Sean Strickland by unanimous decision. He has 24 wins and three losses on his record.
