Dana White Details Why Leon Edwards Will Be Absent From UFC 300 Celebration

UFC CEO Dana White explained why welterweight champion Leon Edwards will not take part in the promotion's UFC 300 anniversary event.White stated at the post UFC 298 press conference:

Leon Edwards has had about three opponents in this whole process. Leon Edwards never turns down a fight. This individual is truly excellent. He has been presented with around three opponents for UFC 300. He said yes to all of them. This individual is truly excellent. Leon, thank you. Huge respect.

It is worth mentioning that the main event of the UFC 300 event, scheduled for April 14 in Las Vegas, will feature a light heavyweight title bout between Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill.

Edwards, 32, most recently faced Colby Covington in December 2023 at UFC 296. Their five-round fight concluded with Leon claiming victory by unanimous decision. He holds a record of 22 wins and three losses.
