UFC President Dana White commented on the victory of the Spanish-Georgian fighter Ilia Topuria over Australian Alex Volkanovski in the featherweight title fight at UFC 298.
White told Marca:
Topuria is great and had a tremendous performance. If he continues like this I think he will have a great future.
26-year-old Topuria had previously entered the octagon in June 2023 at UFC on ABC 5, defeating Josh Emmett by unanimous decision. He has a record of 15 wins and no losses.
35-year-old Volkanovski's last fight was in October 2023 at UFC 294, where he lost to Islam Makhachev by knockout in the first round. He has 26 wins and four losses in his career.
