This announcement was made during the broadcast of UFC 310 in Las Vegas.
Recall that the fight between Strickland and Du Plessis, which took place in January 2024 at UFC 297, concluded with Du Plessis winning by split decision.
Dricus Du Plessis last appeared in the octagon in August 2024 at UFC 305, where he secured a victory over Israel Adesanya via submission in the fourth round. He has a record of 22 wins and 2 losses.
Sean Strickland last fought in the octagon in June 2024 at UFC 302, achieving victory over Brazilian Paulo Costa by split decision. Prior to that, he lost a title match to Dricus Du Plessis by split decision. Strickland's record now stands at 29 wins and 6 losses.
