Former Bellator Champion Pettis Comments On His Loss In Rematch With Horiguchi

Former Bellator bantamweight champion, American Sergio Pettis commented on his loss in his rematch with Japan's Kyoji Horiguchi on June 9 at Rizin 47 in Tokyo.

The fight between Pettis and Horiguchi lasted the entire distance and ended in favor of the Japanese by unanimous decision. He now has 33 wins and five losses on his record, with one more fight ruled a no contest. Sergio has 23 wins and seven losses.

Pettis said at the post-fight press conference:

He went out there and got comfortable. He put me on my back and controlled me in the corners, and did a good job in the wrestling department. I've been prepping for all these wrestlers my whole career, but there are some guys that still sneak through, and Horiguchi ended up being one of those guys.

The first bout between these fighters took place in December 2021 at Bellator 272. Then, the fight was stopped in the fourth round, and ended in favor of Pettis by knockout.
