US publication Sporting News reports that UFC welterweight title challenger Colby Covington wanted to make former US President Donald Trump his cornerman.

According to the source, the fighter called Trump to be his cornerman in the upcoming UFC 296 event, where he will be facing a title fight against Leon Edwards. Donald agreed, however, UFC CEO Dana White declined the idea.

Covington last stepped into the octagon against Jorge Masvidal in March 2022 at UFC 272. That fight went the full distance and ended in Colby's favor with a unanimous judges' decision. He has 17 wins and three losses on his record.
