Former UFC Champion Cain Velasquez Pleads Guilty to Attempted Murder and Faces Sentencing in October

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has pleaded guilty to armed assault and attempted murder, according to MMA Fighting.

Sources indicate that Cain struck a deal with law enforcement to avoid a potential life sentence. However, he is still likely to face prison time, with sentencing expected in mid-October.

To recap, in 2022, Cain carried out an armed attack on Goularte, who had molested his four-year-old son at a daycare. For this, Velasquez spent eight months in jail before being released on bail in November 2022.

The 41-year-old Velasquez last fought in the octagon in February 2019 at UFC on ESPN 1, where he lost to Francis Ngannou by knockout in the first round. His professional record includes 14 wins and three losses.
