Former interim lightweight UFC champion Justin Gaethje reacted to former welterweight title contender Jorge Masvidal's desire to fight him.
Gaethje was quoted as saying by Bloody Elbow:
I think because he bet so much money and I f***ing took it from him against Poirier. I'd be upset about that too. Hopefully he puts a lot of money on this one and not on me. He is so irrelevant right now that’s why he’s saying it so he can become relevant again.
The 35-year-old Gaethje last fought in July 2023 at UFC 291, securing a victory over Dustin Poirier by knockout in the second round. He has 25 wins and four losses to his name.
The 39-year-old Masvidal last entered the octagon in April 2023 at UFC 287 against Gilbert Burns. In that fight, Masvidal suffered a unanimous decision loss. After that, he announced his retirement. Masvidal has 35 wins and 17 losses in mixed martial arts.
