McGregor Claims Crawford Declined Fight Offer

McGregor Claims Crawford Declined Fight Offer

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor has revealed that Terence Crawford, the WBA champion and interim WBO titleholder in the junior middleweight division, turned down a proposed fight with him.

LowKick MMA quote McGregor as saying:

We're talking back and forth like a two-fight deal, he rings up Crawford in front of me. I said 'Crawford they're talking here about you and me two fight deal, MMA first, boxing second'. I said 'I know you've got an extensive background and balls the size of a Bengali tiger. They're asking for a fight. It's going to be hundreds of millions on the line what's up?' And he goes 'I don't want to take a kick off Conor McGregor' - so you've got to respect that.

Crawford's last fight was against Israil Madrimov in Los Angeles this August, where he won by unanimous decision and claimed the WBA world championship title and interim WBO belt in the junior middleweight category. Crawford's record stands at 41 wins (31 by knockout) and no losses.

McGregor last entered the octagon against Dustin Poirier in July 2021 at UFC 264, losing by technical knockout due to a leg injury. His current record features 22 wins and six losses.
