In an exclusive interview with marvelgamingbet.com, Alexander Volkov's coach Taras Kiyashko revealed what fight offers the Russian fighter has received from the UFC in recent months.
"After the victory over Tai Tuivasa in September, Alexander Volkov went on vacation. Meanwhile, the fight between Curtis Blaydes and Jailton Almeida broke down in Brazil. We were offered to replace Blaydes, but Alexander had just returned and hadn't been training, and there was literally a week left until November 4. Almeida ended up fighting Derrick Lewis and defeated him. At the end of the year we were offered Sergey Spivak. That tournament was moved from China to Las Vegas," - said Kiyashko.
We didn't want to fight our guy, and Sergey was against it too. After the New Year we were waiting for a new opponent. We were offered Spivak again for the end of March. We decided to fight, there were no options left, and we needed to make money. But Sergey refused. The UFC said that there were no other opponents.
"Jon Jones, Tom Aspinall, Ciryl Gane and Stipe Miocic are waiting. Blaydes and Almeida are scheduled to fight in early March. As for those below - we've fought everyone except the Brazilians ranked 14th and 15th (Rodrigo Nascimento Ferreira and Marcos Rogerio De Lima). We are ready for any challenge and we are waiting. Alexander is training, he is doing well. We are pumped and ready. Give us a date, give us a fight. We think we need to fight," - said Volkov's coach.
Recall that Alexander Volkov is ranked sixth in the UFC rankings and is on a three-fight winning streak. He has a total of 37 wins and ten defeats on his record.
