Aljamain Sterling defended his lightweight title by defeating Henry Cejudo by split decision of the judges in the main event of UFC 288 tournament held on May 7 in Newark (US).
Another main card fight of the tournament saw Russian Movsar Evloev win by unanimous decision over Brazilian Diego Lopes. After the end of the event, UFC announced that the fighters will be awarded a $50 000 bonus for the Best Fight of the Night.
Moreover, China's Yan Xiaonan and Matt Frevola will be awarded with a Best Performance of the Night bonuses.
Evloev, 29, entered the Octagon prior to UFC 288 in June 2022 at UFC Fight Night 207, where he beat Dan Ige by unanimous decision. He has 16 wins and no losses under his belt.
