UFC Cancel Askhabov's Fight After His Arrest For Kidnapping And Torture In Thailand

The UFC has reacted to news of Russian mixed martial arts fighter Khusein Askhabov's arrest in Thailand for kidnapping and torture with the intent to rob.

The UFC posted the following message on their official website:

UFC is aware of the recent arrest and allegations regarding Khusein Askhabov,” stated the UFC’s press release on its website. The organization will continue to gather additional details regarding the incident. UFC will allow the legal process to play out before making any additional statements, however, his scheduled fight on October 7 has been canceled.

Recall that Askhabov was scheduled to fight American Daniel Pineda on the night of October 8 at UFC Fight Night 229 in Las Vegas.

Askhabov last fought against Jamall Emmers in February of this year at UFC Fight Night 219. In that confrontation, Khussein was defeated by unanimous decision of the judges. He has 23 wins and one loss in mixed martial arts.
