UFC Champion Du Plessis Defends His Coach's Use of Taser in Training

Reigning UFC middleweight champion, South African fighter Dricus Du Plessis explained why his coach uses a taser in training.

Du Plessis said at a press conference:

Everybody thought that was something new for this camp, but it’s been part of the team for two-and-a-half plus years, 100%… Coach used to leg kick us, and he has very strong leg kick, if you made mistakes continuously after he’s warned you a couple of times. That makes training difficult for a couple of days… So the taser is much better than that because the taser hurts a lot more in the moment but it’s over quickly.

Du Plessis will next step into the octagon against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 on August 18 in Perth, Australia.

Du Plessis last fought against Sean Strickland this past January at UFC 297. In that fight, Dricus won by split decision. He has 21 wins and two losses on his record.
