Russia's Karen Khachanov, the 20th-ranked player in the world, has become the first player in 11 years to win two first sets with the score of 6-0 6-0 at the Australian Open.

In the Australian Open-2023, Khachanov defeated Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan 6-0, 6-0, 7-6 (7-4). Khachanov reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career.

In 2012, a similar achievement was achieved by Germany's Philipp Petzschner, who beat Lukáš Rosol of the Czech Republic 6-0, 6-0, 6-2 in the first round of the Australian Open. Only five players have won a match at the AO since 1968, taking the first two sets 6-0.

The 26-year-old Khachanov will play 22-year-old American Sebastian Korda in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
